Planning A Dual Color Wedding Modern Color Trends For 2008

Planning A Dual Color Wedding - Modern Color Trends for 2008
By Erica Tevis

Duel colored weddings are an extremely chic wedding trend for 2008. Duel colored weddings are not for the traditional bride and groom, it is for the modern bride who wants her wedding to "pop". This trend gained popularity within the past two bridal seasons with brides pairing soft colors with neutral brown; now we are now seeing more adventurous color schemes for 2008 weddings.

Remember though, before selecting a duel colored wedding, think about your photographs - will you be able to reflect fondly on your wedding twenty years from now if your photos are filled with bright, magnificent colors? If you're ok with staying with the trends, then this style of wedding may be for you. But if you think you may cringe with disgust at your twenty fifth wedding anniversary party when your children present old wedding photos for all to see, then you may want to pick just one color for your wedding.

If you are planning on a duel colored wedding, plan for one major color with the complementary color used only as an accent. Too much color may be just too much for both you and your guests. Here are some popular color combinations for 2008 weddings:

Pink/Orange - very trendy, very modern. Pink is usually selected as the main color with pops of orange every now and then. Think of the pink and orange found in Gerber daisy's for your color palette. Hot pink bridesmaid's dresses with an orange and pink sash or tie are lovely.

Pink/Brown - for brides who want to have a duel colored wedding, but are afraid of taking too much risk. Combining pink with a neutral shade works nicely together without screaming to your guests. You could use either as the main color or the accent color, as both are soft colors.

Aqua/Brown - this color combination was quite popular last year and will continue to be this year as well. Aqua reminds us of Tiffany blue, and when you pair it with brown, it makes the color more palatable on the eyes. Either can be used as the main or accent color.

Aqua/Red - Think fire and ice. Warm red meets cool blue. This is a great color combination for both winter and summer weddings. The colors together are modern and hip. You can find this color combination in dresses advertised in many recent bridal magazines. Another option if red is too much, pair it with soft orange.

Slate/Lime - This is one of our favorite color combinations and one of the most popular at the moment. Slate bridesmaids dresses accented with green and white bouquets. This color combination is extremely flattering and contemporary. It is soft on the eyes while the lime adds a beautiful splash of color. Lime green bouquet ideas can be found on the cover and inner pages of many new bridal magazines too.

Pearl Grey / Deep Yellow - A twist on the above colors, a soft grey pairs nicely with a deep yellow.

Sky Blue / Light Green - This color combination is very beach bride. Light blues remind us of the sky and warm summer days, while light green is reminiscent of the water, grass and trees. Found together in nature, means it will also work well in weddings and design.

Pale Yellow / Deep Purple - Deep purple is a symbol of royalty and wealth, and pale yellow compliments it quite well. This is a modern version of the popular school colors of blue and yellow. Think of iris when planning this color combination.
